Eduardo Serenellini, 57 years old and originally from Mar del Plata, submitted his resignation as Secretary of Press of the Nation. During his tenure, he faced criticism from figures within the ruling party, which led to a "budget battle" with presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni and the Secretary-General of the Presidency, Karina Milei.
At the beginning of his term in January 2024, Serenellini succeeded Belén Stettler, a close collaborator of Santiago Caputo. Tensions arose with the President's sister in April, causing a temporary decrease in his rank. However, thanks to his direct relationship with Karina Milei, he regained his status as minister shortly after, following an intervention from the President to resolve internal disputes.
Serenellini's resignation came after revealing that he communicated his decision to the President during a breakfast in Olivos. One of the factors contributing to his departure was the lack of alignment with the Executive's agenda, despite his efforts to listen to the problems of different sectors and report them to the President.
This event occurred in a context marked by another significant resignation: the dismissal of the Treasury Attorney, Rodolfo Barra, just 72 hours earlier. In his resignation letter, Barra stated that it had been an honor to collaborate with the presidential administration. Manuel Adorni announced the appointment of Santiago María Castro Videla as the new Treasury Attorney at a press conference.
In addition to his role as Secretary of Press, it was indicated that Serenellini had no direct influence on the official communication of the Government. For his part, Barra, who was also dismissed due to a ruling that did not adequately favor the administration, sent a message to the Chief of Cabinet expressing his best wishes to the ruling party and highlighting his experience in management. Castro Videla, the new Treasury Attorney, is a lawyer, holds a master's degree in Administrative Law, and is a professor at various academic institutions.
